IT WOULDN’T BE THE HOLIDAYS WITHOUT A FLAMINGO

Remember when I said I wouldn’t be buying any more holiday decorations after I purchased my Snowman light pole topper

…by the way, finally the snowman is staying put. A section of 3 inch PVC pipe, split in half and then zip tied to the pole (which made the pole the right diameter for the snowman) in combination with picture hanging wire wrapped around the cross pole did the job of securing the snowman and keeping him from spinning or tilting. Thanks for the suggestions everyone! This seems to be working so far…

… but back to the flamingo. I saw him at Target next to a big sign that said, “30% off” and I couldn’t pass him up. He’s like the shorter, more festive cousin of Burt — and everyone needs a little holiday flamingo in the yard, right?

A few of my neighbors have been slowing down to check him out. They must all with they had a light up holiday yard flamingo…

The house still could use a lot more lights — maybe next year.

Until then, I’ve got this guy to help make the holidays a little brighter.

I’ve also got this merry fellow…

Leo, are you dreaming of a white Christmas?

We may still have a white Christmas — there is some sort of winter storm moving our way, though none of the weathermen can figure out if we will get any snow from it or just rain. They seem to be quite surprised lately — they didn’t forecast this:

…a surprise two inches that we got yesterday mid afternoon, which is now melting due to a high temp of nearly 40 degrees today.

Will we have a white Christmas this year? It is anyone’s guess!

    • Very cool! We got hit with some rain that turned to heavy, wet snow and the flamingo kept falling over! I had to get out tent stakes to keep him upright — glad you won’t be having that problem where you live!

  1. I think your blog ate my comment? I commented a few days ago because I have the same flamingo but it never posted? Or maybe you have me as spam for some reason?
