Well guys, I did it. I opened a shop on Etsy!

As of right now, only the Mini Ranch House Ornaments are available, but rest assured, there will be shelves eventually (and you will be the first to know!)

I’m so excited about getting this far, that I am doing a shop opening/holiday giveaway!

That’s right, one lucky reader can win this:

A Mini Ranch House Ornament to hang on your own swanky tree!

To enter all you need to do is leave a comment on this blog post (between now and Wednesday December 14th at 7pm central time) and answer the question:

What is your favorite part of the holidays?”

It could be anything from drinking eggnog to watching the ball drop on New Year’s Eve.

On Wednesday at 7pm central time, I will use a random number generator to choose the lucky winner. You will be contacted by email (so I can congratulate you and get your shipping address) and I will send you your prize!

Good luck!

  1. Wow- it’s so hard to narrow this down. I love the music…and the cookies…and giving gifts, and seeing family…If I had to pick- I’ll go with the music!

  2. WOW!!!! You do not fool around!!!! Congradulations!!! My favorite part of the holidays is our family traditions. Like the foods we have at our family get togethers, and how we madly deliver our presents to each other at our Christmas Eve party, etc…

    Seriously! Way to go Kate!!!

  3. Congratulations on your new Etsy store! I think this is the start of bigger things to come.

As for my favorite part of the holidays (well, life in general), it has to be the joy of giving. It doesn’t only have to be material items or those with monetary value. A simple gesture such as shoveling a neighbor’s walk, picking up a prescription, or just checking in on someone who lives alone, can make such a difference. The economy may not be in the holiday spirit, but all of us can spread some holiday cheer to make things brighter.

  4. Way to go! Niice job on the etsy site! My favorite part of the holidays is watching It’s a Wonderful Life…I cry every-freakin-time when everyone comes together at the end to help out George! I’m just a big old sap!

  5. My favorite part of the holidays is going to midnight mass with my family and going to see all the Christmas lights around town. I love your blog and your design eye, and the retroranch mini ornaments are adorable. My tree (which is adorned with all bunches of handmade ornaments) would be made so much awesomer by one of these. Thanks for the super sweet giveaway and Merry Christmas!

  6. Those ornaments are so cool! My favorite part of the holidays is when I bake all of my cookies. It’s fun and I like to eat them (and so do others!). Two of my recipes are for cookies that my mom made while I was growing up, so I like to carry on the tradition. I’m hoping my sons will eventually pass the recipes along. 🙂

  7. I absolutely love the last two weeks before Christmas when I am madly sewing presents for everyone on my list. A close second is the watching of “It’s a Wonderful Life” while decorating the tree, along with shots of Baileys.

  8. I am going to be completely honest and say I am so Happy when it is over and I can reflect…these weeks are crazy and I have moments of joy and moments of dread – thinking about someone being disappointed in a gift or food not turning out right…when I put my feet up and relax, I can realize that it is always good and always right because we are together! Congrats on the new shop!

  9. Couldn’t resist commenting …. My favorite holidays have always been just being with my family because my life has always been “away” except for the years when you and your brother were home. I made it home to be with my parents for many, many years until you guys were too little and travel became too hard with Santa stuff and all. The family is small, but being together no matter where has always been my favorite part. Now that we are “away” once again, Christmas in July at your house will be a highlight of the year. All the trappings of the season and the presents are just icing on the cake … being together is the cake. Love you tons! 🙂

  10. My favorite thing about the holidays is the feeling of childlike wonder and joy that I still get after almost 40 years! (That, and “Christmas with Conniff! LOL)
