Are you dying to know something about me or my retro ranch? Send your questions to email@example.com. The most commonly asked questions will be posted here!
A. Leo is a mutt. We adopted him at the Wisconsin Humane Society when he was 3 months old. They told us that he would be 55lbs when full grown and called him a Border Collie mix. He’s currently 70lbs and we’ve decided he is a Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix since we’ve seen a few other dogs that were that mix and they could be his twin.
Q. Does your adorable husband Jim mind that you decorate with so much pink?
A. Part of what makes my adorable husband Jim so great is that he completely trusts my decorating choices (even if he can’t visualize it when I tell him I’m painting the den pink) and is totally secure in his manhood so living in a pink friendly house doesn’t bother him one bit — heck, our last house had a flamingo pink front door! As long as Jim has a comfy couch and a place to put his TV and video game stuff, he’s a happy guy.
Q. What made you start blogging?
A. I’ve always been an open book, enjoyed creative writing, home improvement and documenting my life. When we got the keys to the retro ranch of our dreams, I thought, “why not start a blog to document the process of making our house a home?” Plus many of my friends and family live far away and they love to see what I’m up to. This way they can see our house and get updates whenever they feel like it.
A. At Menards! If you don’t live near one, it looks like they can be ordered online.
Q. What color are your kitchen cabinets?
A. My kitchen cabinets are painted Sherwin Williams Mint Condition. The walls are one shade lighter on the same swatch — called Lighter Mint.
Q. Can I use your photos on my blog?
A. If you would like to use one of my photos on your blog or website, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to ask permission first — hey it’s the nice thing to do. I appreciate if you list photo credits (Photo courtesy of Kate from Retro Ranch Revamp) underneath my photos and link back to my blog.
A. The wood in my house is all oak. I have found that when needing to repair or refinish the trim, that Minwax Golden Pecan Stain is the closest match to the original finish of my wood trim.
