EBAY SCORE — ATOMIC WIRE MAGAZINE HOLDER
When your bored or get the urge to shop — do you start looking for cool retro stuff on Ebay? It is like hitting a billion garage sales from the comfort of your own home. What usually happens — I find something cool that I just can’t live without — and usually the particular something is very overpriced.
This particular style of magazine rack was that something for me. I found one for sale about a year ago and fell in love with it — but the “buy it now” price was four times what I was willing to pay for it. Not being able to give up the search, I tried to find an identical atomic magazine rack every time I shopped on Ebay.
Then finally — about two weeks ago — the exact same magazine rack I had been lusting after for nearly a year appeared — with a reasonable opening price. I made a bid — luckily for me it was the only one — and thus the magazine rack of my dreams came to live at my house.
The funny thing about this magazine rack is that all the other racks I saw on Ebay didn’t have this ceramic ashtray piece that fits over the handle.
Maybe I got a decent deal on this atomic magazine rack because people were turned off by the funky ash tray?
Who knows what I’ll do with it (no smoking in this house!) but if the ash tray portion of this magazine rack is what ended up getting me a deal, then I’ll take it.

It’s fantastic!! I do love all those cool things about it, too! It’s so unusual, I can’t believe it DID show up again! Perseverance pays off!! Congrats! I would also display it WITH the ashtray-it looks like a little piece of ceramic artwork!! (I don’t smoke either.)

I LOVE the ashtray the best. I noticed the ashtray right off. Coolness for sure. And yes, my favorite “I’m Bored” activity is eBay. Gets me into so much trouble.

I love it too. I laughed a little at this post because I am always finding AMAZING mid-century ash trays, but I’m SO not a smoker.
I know! They did make some cool ash trays back then. I guess nearly everyone smoked. Just because you don’t smoke doesn’t mean you couldn’t start a decorative collection…

That’s a good idea Jen! I have used candy dishes as jewelry holders before… I suppose this ashtray would work too.
