LUAU TIME!
What time is it? It’s Luau time! Luau green that is…in the Tiki Lounge!
I spent the first part of the weekend getting the Tiki Lounge all fancied up. I dragged out all the furniture, fluffed up the cushions, hung up the tiki masks and the lights and unpacked the flamingos. As you walk along the sidewalk on your way to the tiki lounge, an entire flock of flamingos is there to greet you…
What do you think about that Leo?
Leo and the pink flamingos have a sordid past. Back at our last house, when Leo was a puppy, he developed a taste for pink flamingos (Well, he didn’t eat them, he just chewed them up until they were unrecognizable hunks of pink plastic). Now we make sure there is a fence between them at all times…
But enough about that…now the moment you’ve been waiting for…the Luau green Tiki Lounge!
The luau green walls really brighten up the space! I decided to use a different furniture arrangement this year. (here’s what it looked like last year) My adorable husband Jim and I are toying around with getting a few more sections of our modular seating from Ikea. We’ll see what they have available when next we visit.
There’s Burt, our giant light up flamingo! The luau green walls really provide a nice backdrop for him…
And then there is the door…
I was going to paint the door a flat orange, but the panels on it were begging for a little attention of the two toned variety…don’t you think?
The luau green walls also really make our tiki mask collection pop off the walls!
I love the new color scheme! Jim, Leo and I spent the evening grilling out and ate our first meal of the summer in the tiki lounge. We turned on the lights and just relaxed….which is exactly how I like to end a weekend.
How did you end your weekend? Did you have a cookout with your family? Perhaps you were surrounded by pink flamingos? However you spent the last few hours of your Sunday, I hope you had a good one! I know we did!

Ended ours much like yours–grilling something on our spruced-up outdoor space. Love your tiki masks, and yes, the green does make them pop! Whole room looks really bright and fun.
That’s a great way to end a weekend Rita! The tiki lounge is a fun space!
Very fun and fabulous! Love the colors and the tiki mask collection!
Thanks Aleta!
Oh! Sweet Leo! You must be lying about him chewing up pink flamingo’s – because I just
won’t believe it for a minute! The room looks Tiki Terrific! I love the colors! Looks awesome,
as usual!!!
Believe it or not, sweet Leo has chewed up two pink flamingos. In his defense, he was a puppy and teething at the time, so it could have been a one time deal, but I’m not taking any chances.
So bright and festive. Very nicely done!
Thanks Rebecca!
I love it! I am super envious of your screened-in porch! The colors are awesome. I love green and orange, though. One of my all-time favorite color combos. I painted our stairwell “Margarita” green, which leads down into our orange basement family room. Your tiki lounge looks great and I know you’ll enjoy it very much this summer. Well done!
The screened in porch is one of my favorite parts of our house…it is my favorite place to relax in the summer and even fall months.
Margarita green sounds fabulous! Also, orange basement!?! LOVE!
WOW …. what a HUGE difference from last year’s version of the Tiki Lounge! The colors set off your furniture, rug, pillows, tiki masks and even Burt so well. FUN, FUN, FUN! Looking forward to hanging out there at Christmas in July!
Thanks Mom! Of course I knew you would love it since your favorite color is green…hehehe. I can’t wait to host Christmas in July again this year in the tiki room!!!!!
WOW! That is an amazing transformation! I love how you got both your colors into the mix — green and your luverly ORANGE, too. I have a tiki present heading your way
xoxo
Thanks Pam! WOAH! A Tiki present?!?!!!?? How exciting!!!! Thanks Pam!
I painted the wall that goes from my dining room to my living room the same color and I love it!
It is a great color Heather! Good choice!
I love what you did with the door!
Thanks Jill! I know you are a fan of green and orange too!
I love the green! ..of course
Big improvement over the neutral tiki lounge of last year. Miles wants to know the names of your tiki people (masks) I told him I didn’t think they had names, but would check with you
I knew you would love the green Nicole!
Tell Miles the tikis don’t have any names yet, if he would like to name them go for it!
We vote to name the one with its tongue out “baked beans” because that is the face he makes when we try to get him to eat it
That’s too funny Nicole!
lookin great. i like the new furniture arrangement. have a mai tai for me! V
Thanks Vanessa! Will do!
Love it! Gorgeous! How I would love a screened in porch, but it’d have to be air-conditioned down here in Texas!!!
I suppose you would…or you could use it in the “winter” when it is cooler outside…
Holy heck- I can’t even stand it it’s so freaking adorable. Love the color- LOVE the flock of flamingos, love the door, love the modern furniture. So cute. How do you get so much painting done so fast? We paint the bathroom and we draw it out for a week!
Thanks Mollie D!
I set aside one whole day on the weekend. Did the prep early morning, put on a first coat, then had a lunch break and ran some errands, then came back for coat # 2! I find that if I don’t make it a point to get it done right away all in one day or so, I will just let it sit unfinished…which I can’t stand!
I have to know where you got your rug. Or did you make it? In love with those colors.
Hi Racheldenbow! I got that chevron outdoor rug at Walmart last summer! It was about $50 as I remember. I think I remember seeing that same pattern again this summer…
