WHAT THE DUCK?
Remember that duck habitat that I unknowingly created with a pile of brush? Well, I thought the ducks had packed up and left town, but apparently they left a little something behind…
Somebody found the nest, dug it up, broke, ate and scattered the eggs (there were four total). I’m guessing it was a raccoon or a squirrel…
I did a little research on ducks laying eggs and it turns out the Mallard ducks (which are the ones I spotted in the “habitat“) lay one egg per day until they have 8-10 eggs in their nest. They are one of the only kinds of ducks that aren’t afraid to lay eggs near where people are. (The article I read was called “Help! There’s a duck nest in my flower pot!“
I wonder if I will find anymore eggs laying around in the future. Weird.
